What an event for the fans of the Call of Duty competitive world! The Major League Gaming Fall Invitational Event at Full Sail University was a great one to go out at the end with a bang! On the 18th of October was the starting day of the final event of the year for Call of Duty Black Ops 2. Many pro teams were knocked out this day from their open bracket match-ups, but 4 big ones were able to come into the event strong and pull through for their fans the next day! Two of which are the biggest names in Call of Duty right now, compLexity Gaming and OpTic Gaming.
Coming into this event OpTic was hungry to win an event this year. Placing first place at UMG Chicago as it being the first tournament of the year but have only placed top 3 at every event leading up to this one. That was about 6 events including multiple MLG Championships and some other UMG events that they had attended. Also one of them being a GFinity event placed in London, France which was an invitation only tournament. OpTic Gaming has always been a major powerhouse in the Call of Duty franchise but in Call of Duty Black Ops 2 their skills have really been matched by teams such as EnVy, Impact CoD, Unite Gaming and mostly by compLexity Live.
Lets take a step back now to the beginning of Black Ops 2 career in November of 2012. It had been the biggest hit in all of the franchises games made to date. Record breaking viewers attending events of 50,000 max people or more, and home viewers watching the live streams of their favorite teams competing for the dollar prizes that are always rewarded. With teams such as OpTic Gaming becoming the "faces" of Call of Duty by streaming live for their fans bringing in record breaking viewers themselves, and teams like Impact Gaming and compLexity Gaming getting more tournament wins than that of any other team.
The Fall Invitational Tournament at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida was the event to see. This would be the second MLG Championship that compLexity Live would have been playing in after recently taking the champion reins from Impact CoD in the MLG Event in Anaheim, California! compLexity Live had played through the tournament flawlessly as OpTic Gaming had to fight through the losers bracket after losing in the Winners Bracket Round 3. They went flawlessly with the teams they faced in the losers bracket coming into the finals with a 4-3 loss in the final Search and Destroy match-up of the event. compLexity Live taking first place at yet another event and putting OpTic Gaming into second place leaving them distraught at not being able to win a second first place finish in the Call of Duty Black Ops 2 season. this would be the 4th event that compLexity would have beaten OpTic Gaming knocking them out of the tournament leaving them without a chance to compete in the finals anymore.
